This is the first of what I hope will be many rants and raves about the world at large and the current US situation in particular. This site is dedicated to rational rumination and logical thought processes. I see so little of it in the world that I'm forced to broadcast my own. Oh, don't you just love/hate the Internet. Anybody with a few hundred bucks, a few hours and a little inclination can get "e-published".

Today's lesson concerns the logical inconsistencies with the US government's idiotic WAR ON DRUGS.
Albore & Hilldebeast intend to expand it to a WAR ON DRUG COMPANIES, but more about that some other time.

For over thirty years I have been trying to get ONE single logical defense of the WAR ON DRUGS. Let's begin by taking on some of the "reasons" & "justifications" one by one.

1) Drugs cause crime.

Drugs cause "drug" crime in exactly the same way that banks cause bank crime.

It's the money, Stupid!

When you consider a substance that has all the intrinsic value of table salt and through the magic of interdiction inject a 10,000% IRR on its acquisition price by simply transporting it across an imaginary line (the US border), you are going to attract an army of "franchisees".

2) Drugs cause health problems.

Gee, I hope Big Bad Barry can finish up this pesky WAR ON DRUGS soon because I want him to concentrate on a much bigger problem, obesity.

Not only is obesity an assault on the eyes, it is associated with more than 300,000 premature deaths per year in the US. Add to the cost of burying all those wide-bodies the load they place on the medical resources of the country and you'll come up with a number that dwarfs our combined expenditure on the acquisition, interdiction, prosecution, incarceration and rehabilitation associated with those evil drugs.

3) Drugs are addictive.

I couldn't care less if they are more (or less) addictive than Camels, Cokes or Doritos.

If some weak-willed simp cannot muster the gumption to kick maybe he ought to be restricted to the non-reproducing gene pool by tapping out early.

If cocaine were legal then Marion Barry's $500/day habit could be satisfied with about $20/day. He could push a rag around a car wash or sell BJs on the beach to cover his habit. Hell, he could even peddle himself for medical research and possibly "give something back to society". He'd be dead in about 6 months and then we could simply push him into a big lime-filled pit along with the other casualties.    HEADLINES
